Zoe pedals to National medals

A schoolgirl from Dromore has returned home from the Irish National Youth Track Championships at the Sundrive Velodrome in Dublin with silver and bronze medals after setting new personal best records.
Last Saturday, Zoe Lindsay took part in the U14 Girls Category Irish National Youth Track Championship at the wind-affected outdoor Dublin venue.
While the wind affected some riders more than others, it did little to slow down the flying Dromore Cycling Club member as she set a Personal Best in her Flying 200m Qualifier clocking a time of 15.41 seconds. This was the third fastest time of the day and put Zoe through to the One-on-One Sprint Races later in the day.
Zoe then claimed silver in the 250m TT setting a Personal Best of 24.63 sec just missing out on gold by 0.24 of a second.
Up next was the eight lap Scratch Race (3,680m) where Zoe claimed bronze in a five-way sprint for the chequered flag.
So, to the One-on-One Sprint Races - the best of three races in each round.
A gutsy ride put Zoe through to the bronze medal ride-off where she managed to take the medal race to the third round but was narrowly beaten into fourth place.
Zoe wants to thank all the coaches at Sundrive Velodrome in Dublin and the Orangefield Velodrome in Belfast for all their work and advice during the summer, and to the committee and members of Dromore CC for their encouragement. To read more subscribe to our online Newspaper
